STARTING A SLEEP LAB:

AASM ACCREDITATION ASSISTANCE:

AASM accreditation is very important for your sleep lab. Medicaid/Medicare and many insurance companies, are moving towards requiring sleep labs to be AASM accredited for reimbursement. In some instances the reimbursement rates are higher for accredited sleep labs

There are specific guidelines that need to be met in order for a sleep lab to be accredited. The accreditation process takes several months of preparation. If your sleep lab is considering AASM accreditation, you will need to start the process several months in advance. Are you just starting the design phase of your sleep lab? If so, you need to consider the floor plan. The AASM has many requirements regarding room sizes, windows, bathrooms etc… you will need to meet in order for your sleep lab to pass the accredation inspection. It is much easier to design and build the sleep lab for accreditation at the beginning of construction rather than try to remodel things afterwards.
Sleep Technology Services can apply for and initiate the necessary paperwork on your behalf to the AASM. We will work through the accreditation process with your sleep lab to insure you meet all the required specifications. Additionally, we will have someone present during the walk through inspection and assist with the provisional corrections that will need to be addressed, if needed. We’ll be there every step of the way to insure your sleep lab receives AASM accreditation.
